Unstranslatable words

There is something deeply beautiful in Spanish words that cannot be translated fully.

Dedicada a mami:
"Confieso que me haces tanta falta
Para decirme todo va a estar bien
Para escucharme con una guitarra
Sentado con tu taza de café
Lloré por que tu voz no está en la casa
Reí por que me amaste con todo tu ser
Es una mezcla que me agarra el alma
Y rompe en cada esquina de mi ser
Y como no
Si eras mi todo
Y como no"

Preserving Authenticity

There is an impulsive desire to maintain reserve when one is in turbulence. Isn't it silly?  When I realize that most of my time and effort is set to this world alone. Key words: this world alone. How much time is wasted? To imagine this life as merely a blink to eternity. Why is so much energy placed on much that would not matter? Why does one's own heart seek the things it already knows it will not be fulfilled by?

Seems like at times, reason and heart are placed to an equation of sorts. "If I do this then factor in that plus this and that, multiplied to the coefficient of impulse divide all by risk plus fear factors would it be greater than or equal to worth it?" Keep in mind, this equation does not make sense, just made up.

Reminds me of this scene What do you want?
Is the vision to what is really important in life also blinded by our sin?

A priest once advised that one of the best methods to discern decisions was to look at it in the perspective of life and death. If you were in your deathbed, what would you do? A way to finding clarity. Makes one wonder how much of decision making is led by fear cloaked as something noble.

Sincerely,

Ahhh-me

Life is not about your career...

“It’s not your career that’s necessarily important, it’s how you live the reality of your faith and your gift in your career.”
-Thomas Winninger

A good article to read about how to distinguish your gifts:

Let go & let God

"If God wants something to happen, He will make it happen. And if God doesn't want it, then neither do I."

Fresh Air

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.”

Man's Freedom

There is a suffering that must endure to climb a mountain, but that is nothing compared to the suffering one must endure to love another human being.

Litany of Trust

Deliver me, Jesus.
From the belief that I have to earn Your love
From the fear that I am unlovable
From the false security that I have what it takes
From the fear that trusting You will leave me more destitute
From all suspicion of Your words & promises
From the rebellion against childlike dependency on You
From refusals & reluctances in accepting Your will
From anxiety about the future
From resentment or excessive preoccupation with the past
From restless self-seeking in the present moment
From disbelief in Your love & presence
From the fear of being asked to give more than I have
From the belief that my life has no meaning or worth
From the fear of what love demands
From discouragement
Deliver me, Jesus.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Jesus, I trust in you.
That You are continually holding me, sustaining me, loving me
That Your love goes deeper than my sins & failings, & transforms me
That not knowing what tomorrow brings is an invitation to lean on You
That you are with me in my suffering
That my suffering, united to Your own, will bear fruit in this life & the next
That You will not leave me orphan, that You are present in Your Church
That Your plan is better than anything else
That You always hear me & in Your goodness always respond to me
That You give me the grace to accept forgiveness & to forgive others
That You give me all the strength I need for what is asked
That my life is a gift
That You will teach me to trust You
That You are my Lord and my God
That I am Your beloved one
Jesus, I trust in you.

Vita mutatur non tollitur

"Lord, I ask not to see the path in front of me, I will hold your hand and I will close my eyes so that you know how much trust I place in you."

-Blessed Mary Elizabeth Hesselflab
